Today's News

Today in the New York Times there was an article regarding the release of a Lebanese terrorist. A Lebanese man arrested three years ago on terrorism charges in connection with a plot to blow up New York City commuter tunnels was released on bail last year. Bail was set at a mere $600 U.S. dollars. Why so little for someone who had maps and bombing plans on his computer, and even confessed to the plot and swore allegiance to Al Qaeda? This all doesn’t make sense to me. Why is someone of this nature not in jail?

  1. It is pretty unbelievable to hear that a man who developed such a horrendous plan could be released on a $600 dollar bail. But what I find even more ironic is that fact that we are waging a very costly war againsts terrorists in the Middle East yet we release man that has enough evidence to be sentenced is released on $600 bail. Honestly, this does not make any sense to me either.

  2. Maybe the amount of evidence against him only pinned him to a 600 misdemeanor.

  3. $600 is the penalty you would pay for a speeding ticket in the State of New York. Bring that guy over and he would be trailed and thrown in jail.

  4. Do you know how long he was in Jail for prior to his release? Obama has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to both torture and wrongful imprisonment. I think that maybe they just did not have enough evidence against him. But that $600 thing is crazy...wow
